An entire family became ill as a result of defective construction of a basement. Defects in the construction and waterproofing material allowed moisture to penetrate basement and fostered the growth of toxic mold and bacteria. Contractor tried to conceal the water leak by installing, and hiding, a pan to catch the ongoing leaks until homeowner found the drip pan during forensic investigation of the premises. Exposures caused severe neurological, gastrointestinal and cognitive impairment in more than one family member.
